The new EP from Floyd Lavine & The Illustrious Blacks is a testament to this fusion — a sonic exploration that transcends genres and celebrates cultural heritage. Floyd Lavine, an African nomad whose journey has taken him from Johannesburg to Berlin, is renowned for his unique blend of Afro-house, deep house, and techno. His music has garnered acclaim from prestigious outlets such as DJ Mag, Mixmag, BBC Radio 6 Music, Vogue Italia, and The Wire. In 2019, he received a nomination in the 'Afro House' category at the DJ Awards, solidifying his position as a leading figure in the global electronic music scene. Lavine's performances at esteemed venues like Watergate Berlin and CTM Festival further attest to his dynamic presence and influence in the industry. The EP's lead track, ‘Mind Expansion’, is a pulsating journey that blends hypnotic rhythms with deep grooves, creating a transcendent listening experience. The collaboration with The Illustrious Blacks infuses the track with soulful melodies and dynamic energy, making it a standout piece in their collective discography. Then there’s the second piece, ‘You Belong’, featuring vocalist Dumama. Dumama (real name Gugulethu Duma) is a South African musician, composer, sonic poet and creative producer from the Eastern Cape. Her practice plays with deconstruction and critique of archaic modes of representation in Southern African/African sonic and performance culture, while also composing music for herself and others. credits Follow Us: https://www.instagram.com/sapiensrec https://www.tiktok.com/@agoria_sapiens https://www.facebook.com/sapiensrec https://soundcloud.com/sapiensrecords https://sapiensrecords.bandcamp.com/ https://www.beatport.com/label/sapiens-recordings/59838/releases
